The Credit Analyst is responsible for analyzing financial information, assessing creditworthiness, and supporting loan underwriting decisions to ensure safe, sound, and compliant lending practices. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the bank’s asset quality, regulatory compliance, and adherence to internal credit policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPPONSIBILITIES:
- Analyze personal and business financial statements, tax returns, cash flow statements, a supporting documentation.
- Prepare written credit memorandums including risk assessment, repayment sources, and loan structure recommendations.
- Evaluate borrower creditworthiness using the 5 C’s of Credit.
- Conduct ratio, trend, and cash flow analysis.
- Review credit reports and identify credit risks or inconsistencies.
- Order and review appraisal reports and, when necessary, complete internal evaluations in accordance with applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure loan files are complete, accurate, and compliant with bank policy and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor loan portfolios for covenant compliance, financial reporting, and credit quality.
- Identify early warning signs of deteriorating credit and escalate concerns to management.
- Assist with loan reviews, internal audits, and regulatory examinations.
- Always maintain confidentiality of customer and bank information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field required.
- One to five years of credit analysis or lending experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial statement analysis and underwriting principles.
- Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and work independently.
- Technical abilities, specifically in using specialized tools to build comprehensive credit packages.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to fifty pounds at least two times per day.
- Job pressures are high for meeting deadlines, frequent interruptions, and high level of telephone activity.
- Overtime may be required during periods of high workload or increased volume.
- Mental ability required is high for reasoning, remembering, reading, writing, and speaking.
